Teacher development and mentoring

Individualized teacher development and mentoring program for new and experienced teachers in the tradition of T. Krishnamacharya and T.K.V. Desikachar, recognized by the Krishnamacharya Healing and Yoga Foundation, Chennai, India.

500 hour program: January 2011 – June 2013:  completed.

Next group will begin in 2014; inquiries welcome.

comprised of regular group classes, individual lessons, monthly workshops, annual teaching retreat, observation and supervised teaching, personal practice and assignments.

Curriculum includes in depth studies of the following:

asana: classical postures, adaptations
breath focused practice
course planning and sequencing
pranayama: theory and practice
observation and evaluation
individualized teaching with case studies
approaching special needs
yoga sutra study
Sanskrit and Vedic chant
meditation in yoga
mentorship

Workshops:

monthly  on Sundays,  10:00 a.m. – 5 p.m. over 2 1/2 years.

Annual Teaching Retreat

Professional development for teachers and aspiring teachers in the lineage of T.K.V. Desikachar and T. Krishnamacharya. Five days of advanced, individualized practice, theory, discussion, in the beautiful setting of Swallows Bridge, near Caledon, www.swallowsbridge.com.

This course is open to teachers and serious students with prior experience in this yoga tradition. An individual lesson with Rosemary is essential preparation for this retreat: please schedule one on Monday, June 20th or before.

This course provides 30 contact hours applicable professional teacher development. Inquiries welcome; an individual lesson and relevant experience are a prerequisite to registration.

Teaching will focus on the yoga of the Taittiriya Upanisad, and will include study, discussion, asana, pranayama, meditation, and chant.
