Community classes

For the past 20 years Rosemary has been teaching in the St. Clair West neighbourhood of Toronto. Relationship and community are central to her teaching. Many students and teachers return from year to year. We also welcome those new to yoga, and practitioners with experience who wish to explore the individualized nature and comprehensive teachings which come directly from TKV Desikachar.

All classes are registered by the term so that there is a continuity of learning and practice. However you are welcome to join at any time, space permitting, and we will pro-rate the fees. If you miss a class, we encourage you to make it up in one of our other classes, during the same term.

Small Group Classes

Classes build on basic principles of yoga, emphasizing the link between breath and movement, gradually moving towards stillness in body and mind. We guide you through a series of practices which have a meditative quality. Students gradually learn to adapt postures to their own needs and to deepen their experience. Our teaching includes postures, breathing, sound and relaxation, and vary in intensity. These classes provide an enjoyable way to establish a regular yoga practice in a supportive environment with individual attention.

Each class has its own character and is adapted to the participants, varying and developing as the term progresses. Returning students are encouraged to work at their own level and to apply yoga in their daily lives. New students are gradually introduced to the experience of yoga practice. Space is limited: classes are kept small to allow for personal attention.

Meditation & Mantra

This class will be a guided meditation, including mantra and pranayama as tools to steady the mind. Each session will have a specific focus to help develop the experience of contemplative practice. This is an opportunity for those already practising to go more deeply into the inner aspects of yoga.
